Admission for Majors

We are thrilled that you are interested in pursuing one of the degrees in the School of Music. The following steps must be completed before entering any of the music degree programs.

Apply to Lipscomb University by filling out this application.
(Be sure to indicate your intended Music Major)
Apply to the School of Music by filling out the School of Music Application within the Bison Portal.
Audition. Our auditions have two components—a performance and an interview; and you
may either audition in person (which we prefer), or remotely.
- If in person:
  - Review. Look at the Audition Guidelines for your area.
  - Sign up. Once your School of Music application is complete, you will receive an email with a link to sign up for one of the scheduled Audition Dates.
  - Audition. Perform for and interview with faculty on your chosen date.
- If remotely:
  - Review. Look at the Audition Guidelines for your area.
  - Sign up. Once your School of Music application is complete, you will receive an email with a link to sign up for a Zoom interview on one of the scheduled Audition Dates.
  - Audition.
    - Submit videos. Your audition performance video(s) is due 2 weeks prior to your Zoom interview. [NOTE: You must upload your required audition video(s) on time to avoid cancellation.]
    - Interview. Attend the scheduled Zoom interview with faculty.

Admission for Minors and Ensemble Participants

Requirements can be found in the Guidelines page. Applications submitted prior to March 1st will be given priority.

Audition Material Deadlines for Majors

Early Consideration: Nov 2nd, 2026
- Students who would like to be given priority for scholarships are highly encouraged to opt for early consideration. In this process, students will submit their School of Music Applications by November 2nd, 2026 and if selected will audition on campus on November 14th. Students opting for early consideration will be notified about acceptance and scholarships in early December 2026.
Final deadline for Spring 26 Transfer Students: Nov 1st, 2026
Final deadline for first spring audition: Jan 8th, 2027
Final deadline for scholarship consideration: Feb 1st, 2027
Final deadline for admission-only (Scholarships may be limited): Feb 15th, 2027

Note: Songs and performances are not being submitted for publication and Lipscomb University will not retain any of the rights for any songs or performances that a writer presents.

Scholarships

Scholarship Information

Your acceptance and scholarship decisions will be based on your performance as well as conversation with the faculty during your live audition.
Music scholarships may be added to other awards offered by the university, depending on the student’s overall financial aid package.
School of Music scholarships are also available for non-music majors who would like to participate in an ensemble.

Current students who are not receiving scholarships or who wish to apply for scholarship consideration in a different performance area, may contact the coordinator for their performance area to request an audition.

Scholarship Recipient Expectations

Requirements of Scholarship Recipients

Students awarded scholarships will participate in appropriate and assigned ensemble(s) and will be assigned to a scholarship team to provide service to the School of Music throughout the academic year.
Scholarship students will maintain a B (3.0) cumulative average in music courses at Lipscomb and a 2.5 cumulative average overall. Scholarship students may not be on any type of probation. The music faculty evaluate all scholarship awards at the end of each school year.

Lipscomb University is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Without an arrangement of release, member schools of NASM are not allowed to accept students on scholarship who have previously accepted scholarships from another member school. Please let us know about any other music scholarships you have been awarded.
