Dr. Adam Wilson serves as the Assistant Director for the Center of Teaching and Learning and is an Assistant Professor of History at Lipscomb University. Before joining Lipscomb, he spent 14 years as a professor and administrator of online programs at the University of Tennessee at Martin. During his time there, he successfully led the university’s transition to the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), created faculty development workshops on online course design, and frequently presented on the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Mississippi, specializing in African American history with a focus on the "long civil rights movement" and the contributions of African Americans in the military throughout U.S. history. In 2015, his manuscript, African American Army Officers of World War I: A Vanguard of Equality in War and Beyond, was published. This work highlights the role of African American officers in World War I as they fought for civil rights amidst discrimination and their ongoing efforts to combat segregation and inequality after the war.
