Biography

Dr. McCurley brings 20 years of university teaching experience to her faculty role in the Department of Kinesiology at Lipscomb. Before coming to Lipscomb, Dr.McCurley worked for 12 years at Abilene Christian University where she served as assistant chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition and mentored pre-occupational therapy and pre-physical therapy students as they prepared for admittance into graduate school. She also served on the Health Professions Advisory Committee at ACU and worked with colleagues on this committee to develop a series of seminar courses designed specifically to prepare pre-health profession students for the next step of their academic journey. One of the significant joys of her work is to see students achieve their goals and become leaders in their professional fields.

Her research interests include use of wearable devices for physiological tracking during exercise and training and performance of recreational endurance athletes. Dr. McCurley holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Physical Education (Exercise Science) from Arkansas State University, and a Ph.D. in Exercise Science from the University of Arkansas. She and her husband, Chris, have three
grown children, Keely, Zoe and Zane.
