Biography
Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, Alex Krew is a cellist of great emotional depth and technical breadth. A frequent substitute with Nashville Symphony, Alex has also performed in subscription concerts with the Indianapolis Symphony and the New World Symphony in Miami Beach. A twelve-year veteran of Nashville’s booming soundtracking scene, Alex has lent his talents to countless recordings for movies, video games, and television. Recent highlights include Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Masters of the Air, and Trolls Band Together.
Alex began his studies at the age of five at Peabody Conservatory’s Preparatory Division, studying with Bai-Chi Chen and Alison Wells. He went on to attend Vanderbilt University on a full-tuition scholarship, studying with Felix Wang and winning the concerto competition. Alex completed his Master of Music at Indiana University, where he studied with Eric Kim. He has participated in some of the world’s finest summer festivals, including Brevard, Bowdoin, YellowBarn, Aspen, and Music Masters Course Japan in Yokohama. He has also performed with some of the world’s finest conductors and soloists, including Leonard Slatkin, Alan Gilbert, Joshua Bell, Johannes Moser, Seong-Jin Cho, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Principal Players of the New York Philharmonic, and Yo-Yo Ma.
Alex resides in Bellevue with his beautiful wife, Allie, and their dog, Bodhi. In his free time, Alex enjoys biking, climbing, photography, and playing chess.
