Biography

Lisa Kacos is an artist, educator, and multi-instrumentalist whose pedagogy integrates classical theory with contemporary practice and studio fluency. She teaches classical and commercial music theory and aural skills at Lipscomb University and Belmont University, and leads workshops for songwriters and music producers, regularly guest-teaching with the songwriting community Thinking Outside the Blocks.

Formerly a writing and touring member of the band Outer Vibe, she performed across North America—logging more than 1,000 shows—and opened for Kenny Loggins, Train, Hot Chelle Rae, and REO Speedwagon; the band’s single “Hoka Hey” spent 12 weeks among the Top 5 requested songs at Top 40 radio station WIXX (Green Bay). Their songs earned sync placements with NASCAR, Wolverine Worldwide, Davenport University, and the documentary Apathetic Epidemic.

After signing with Music Row publisher Catch This Music in 2016, Lisa relocated to Nashville to expand her writing and production work. She now writes, drums, sings, and co-produces with the alt-rock duo ADD | OCD, and is an in-demand freelance trumpeter, having shared the stage with Amy Ray of The Indigo Girls, The Music City Queens, and other Nashville artists. She holds an MM in Music Theory (pedagogy emphasis) and a BM in Composition/Music Theory from Michigan State University.
