Biography
Mary Hearn completed her M.Ed. at Vanderbilt University in 1983, and also received her certification as a Developmental Education Specialist from Appalachian State University in 1989. Throughout her career, Mary’s focus has been on how to most effectively teach reading and writing skills to students of all ages. Since returning to Lipscomb University in 2012, Mary has taught a number of courses, including Developmental English, freshman English, LU Seminar, and Literature for Young Adults.
Additionally, she has supervised student teachers, and participated in the LIFE program as an instructor and a tutor. Mary also helped to design the “Ignite” program at Lipscomb Academy, and she has had the opportunity to be a part of several Global Studies semesters in London.
