Biography

Dr. Ellen Campos is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Lipscomb University. Originally from the Chicago area, she began her academic journey studying pre-nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Alverno College. She moved to Nashville to pursue graduate studies and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Belmont University. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).

Before becoming an FNP, Campos gained diverse clinical experience in emergency medicine, inpatient step-down and orthopedic units, prenatal nursing, and preoperative/post-anesthesia care (PACU) nursing. These varied roles have shaped her comprehensive approach to patient care and nursing education. She is passionate about equipping nursing students to recognize the powerful role they can play in improving patient outcomes, especially in outpatient, preventative, and community-based care.

Campos conducted all of her scholarly work for her doctorate in South India, where she developed a neonatal resuscitation escape room to improve clinical readiness and teamwork among nursing students. Her research interests center on global health, preventative medicine, and innovative strategies to transform nursing education.

In her free time, Campos enjoys running and training for marathons, road cycling, and exploring new restaurants around Nashville. She also loves to travel and has visited two of the seven wonders of the world, with hopes to see them all.
