Biography

Dr. Shaun Calix was born in Warner Robins, GA, grew up in Birmingham, AL, and has since lived in Tuscaloosa, AL; Hattiesburg, MS; Columbia, MO; and Lawton, OK. He is excited to live once again in the Southeast. Shaun's favorite topics to teach are parenting, family life education, marriage, family diversity, child and adolescent development, and abnormal psychology. In addition to teaching, he is excited about his research on adoptive families, specifically the formation and maintenance of open adoptive family relationships. Outside of work, Shaun can be found spending time with family, singing in community choirs, performing in musical theatre, leading song worship at his local church, and watching football and baseball.

• M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern Mississippi
• Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Missouri, Columbia
