Biography

Chris Brock lives with his wife just outside of Nashville, Tennessee in Murfreesboro close to his two sons and their families. He is an Art Director and Visual Development Artist at DreamWorks Animation and is currently working on an undisclosed project. He recently completed his work on “The Wild Robot” which will be in theaters this September. Prior to that he Art Directed on "Boss Baby 2" which afforded Chris the opportunity to guide the creative process through all departments from early visual concept to final lighting.  Since 2006, as a Visual Development Artist, Chris has been instrumental in the design and look of many of DreamWorks films such as " Abominable", "Kung Fu Panda 1,2,3, and 4", "Boss Baby", "Monsters Vs. Aliens", and "Flushed Away".  These projects presented him the opportunity to design locations, illustrate production paintings and color keys, as well as designing props.  He is proficient as a digital artist in the use of Photoshop and Maya.

Chris began his career as a Background Artist at Warner Brothers Feature Animation in 1996 where he developed his skills in painting with traditional media.  While there he had the privilege of working on the critically acclaimed film, "The Iron Giant".  Following his time at Warner Brothers he continued his career working on projects such as DreamWorks, "The Road to El Dorado and "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas".  Chris also spent two years at Cartoon Network Studios on "Time Squad Patrol" and "Samurai Jack".  In addition to these projects, he worked as the Lead Background Artist on "Bambi 2" at Disneytoon Studios.  During this time Chris traveled to Australia to train the background department there in painting style and technique using Photoshop and Painter. Chris studied Illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.  Prior to Art Center, he spent two years at Cal State University, Fullerton as a Fine Art Major.  Upon graduation from Temple City High School in 1989 he began his college career at Pasadena City College, where he also studied Fine Art for two years.
