Federal Work Study - Current Students

Federal Work Study is a program that allows you to work part-time and earn money to put toward your education.

Federal Work Study offers students the opportunity to earn income to help pay for college expenses while enrolled in school by working with a part-time job that matches their interest and skills. It’s available to both part and full-time students who demonstrate a financial need based on the information provided on their FAFSA. The purpose is to encourage and promote the part-time employment of students, as well as assist the university and its surrounding community.

Here are a few things you need to know about FWS at Lipscomb:

  • FWS awards are given on a first-come-first-serve basis. Due to funding restrictions, FWS may not be awarded to all eligible students. The awarding of work-study also does not guarantee a job, but it does give the recipient priority consideration for work on campus.
  • FWS money is paid directly to you, not credited to your account. Income earned through FWS does not have to be repaid.
  • You’ll be paid bi-weekly for hours worked.
  • You must file your FAFSA and indicate on the FAFSA that you wish to be considered for FWS. We encourage all students who think they may qualify for FWS to file the FAFSA asap since funds are limited.

After being awarded work-study, the student accepts FWS by finding a job on campus. Jobs can be found at the job fair, which is held within the first two weeks of class each year or you can locate open positions on the university Job page.
