2023-2024 Lipscomb Jazz Ensemble Auditions
Thank you all for your interest in the 2023-2024 Lipscomb Jazz Ensemble. For your audition you will submit a video recording as an unlisted YouTube vide in the form below. Each student is being asked to play the required excerpt(s) along with the original recording. The recording links are below as well.
Submission Deadline: Submission link DUE by 11:59pm, August 18th

Submission Results: Results will be posted on Sunday August 20th. The first rehearsal will be Monday August 21st at 6:00pm.
Instructions:
- Find your respective instruments excepts
- Record your excerpts (found below) along with the recording. Excerpts are bracketed. If there are no brackets, play the entire page.
- Optional - improvization - you can find backing tracks online
- Upload your video YouTube as unlisted
- Submit your video via the form by 11:59pm August 18th

Trumpets:
Play all excerpts with original recording. Drop octaves if needed, but if you are auditioning for lead you will need to read the ink.
Trombones:
Play all excerpts with original recording. Drop octaves if needed, but if you are auditioning for lead you will need to read the ink.
Saxophones:
I have included both Bb and Eb options to be played on either alto/Bari or tenor/soprano
Drums:
I will need an example playing in 2 of these styles (song of your choice) (you pick 2 of the 4): med swing with sticks and brushes, fast swing, Latin, and funk.
Bass:
Demonstrate ability to read parts as well as walk an improvised bass line.
Guitar:

Additional, but not required: Improvising is optional but will help chair placement and will improve your chances of passing the audition. Solo 3 choruses over a Bb blues with backing track or metronome on 2&4.
