Bisons take on Vanderbilt at First Tennessee Park Tuesday

The Lipscomb University Bison Baseball team is set to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at First Tennessee Park on Tuesday, March 28.
The first pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. in the neutral site game hosted at the home of the Nashville Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s. This is the first time the Bisons have played in First Tennessee Park, which opened last year.
“Vanderbilt is a great baseball program, and it is a fun rivalry,” said Brian Ryman, director of baseball operations. “Being able to play this game at First Tennessee Park is good for baseball and good for the university to be in the spotlight of the city.”
Tickets are $15 for the game against Vanderbilt, the 2014 NCAA Div. I champions. They are on sale now through the Sounds’ box office, online by clicking here or by calling 615-690-4487, ext. 2. The Bisons' dugout will be on the first-base side of the field.
“We hope that Lipscomb students, faculty, staff, alumni and Bison fans in Middle Tennessee will make plans to show their purple pride and come out to First Tennessee Park to support our team Tuesday night,” said Ryman.
Lipscomb (12-8) is riding a season high four-game win streak after knocking off Middle Tennessee 16-2 in Murfreesboro Wednesday night. This weekend the Lipscomb baseball team hosts the University of Evansville this weekend for its final three-game series before ASUN Conference play begins next week. Friday’s opener is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch, followed by a Saturday contest at 2 p.m. and a Sunday finale at 1 p.m.
The Bisons and Evansville have met 14 times on the diamond in Lipscomb’s NCAA era. The Purple Aces hold an 11-3 advantage and have beaten the Bisons in six straight meetings. Lipscomb’s last win in the series came on March 3, 2008 – an 8-5 victory at Evansville.
