This spring Lipscomb University is hitting the road to bring the Lipscomb experience directly to community college students with its spring 2025 Be A Bison tour. The Be A Bison tour is an opportunity to engage select community colleges in the Middle Tennessee area in a Lipscomb Day to visit with students and to share more about the university and pathways to continue their education as a Bison.
The Be A Bison community college tour makes its first stop on Feb. 10 at Columbia State Community College followed by a stop at Volunteer State Community College on Feb. 18 and Nashville State Community College on March 27.
Students will gain firsthand insight into what makes Lipscomb a transformative and supportive place to pursue their academic and personal goals. They will also learn more about scholarship and financial aid opportunities, learn more about the application process and have the opportunity to talk to our team of Lipscomb transfer admission counselors.
“Community college students bring incredible talent, perspective and passion to Lipscomb, and we’re excited to connect with them directly through the Be A Bison tour,” said Autumn Hooton, assistant director of admission. “This is an amazing opportunity to meet students where they are, share about Lipscomb’s supportive community and help them envision their next steps as Bisons.”
Lipscomb University is one of the top universities in the nation for transfer students. For eight consecutive years it has been named to the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll and last year was one of only 228 institutions across the country to receive this recognition. Lipscomb is one of only five institutions in Tennessee to be named to the list in 2024. Phi Theta Kappa’s Transfer Honor Roll recognizes excellence and success in community college transfer pathway development among four-year colleges and universities.
Lipscomb offers five academic scholarships to transfer students — the Lipscomb Pathways Scholarship, the Community College Transfer Scholarship, the Phi Theta Kappa and National Society of Leadership Scholarships, the Transfer Trustee Scholarship and the Lipscomb Noyce Scholars Program.
In addition to visits to community colleges, the Be A Bison tour includes a focus on high school students who have already applied to Lipscomb, which also begins in February. The goal is for these students to deepen their connection to the university and reinforce their decision to join the Bison community. In addition, the tour focuses on increasing awareness about Lipscomb among prospective students and encouraging them to visit campus or apply. Cities on the tour include Louisville, Kentucky, and Chattanooga, Knoxville and Memphis, Tennessee.
