In addition to regular courses, Lipscomb Lifelong Learning often offers convenient one-day learning experiences each semester.
These "lunch and learns" allow you to learn among peers while discovering interesting new facets of our community and the world today. Unless noted otherwise, all sessions meet at Longview Mansion, located at 811 Caldwell Lane in Nashville, Tennessee. Parking on-site is free, and lunch is provided when specified in the class description.

Explore the rich history of American jazz in this engaging appreciation class led by a Nashville-based jazz singer, Thea Danos. The class features blending guided listening, influential album recommendations and personal stories from her life as a full-time performer. Participants will trace key moments in the jazz timeline, hear musical examples that highlight the genre’s evolving styles, and gain a deeper understanding of the artists and recordings that shaped this uniquely American art form. The time will conclude with a live vocal performance by Danos that will bring the music and its history vividly to life.
