Biography
Dr. Jessica Dunnavant teaches flute at Lipscomb University and for the Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music. She maintains a strong and active studio of middle and high school students in the community, and she is a member of the Jackson Symphony in West Tennessee. An avid early musician, Dr. Dunnavant plays Baroque flute and recorder with Music City Baroque, and she edits the Flute Examiner newsletter. She holds degrees from the University of Maryland College Park (DMA 2004), Florida State University (MM 2000) and Middle Tennessee State University (BM 1998). Additional academic appointments include visiting and adjunct work teaching flute and other classes at Middle Tennessee State University, Belmont University's Belmont Academy, the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, Florida State University and Texas A&M University-Kingsville. In her spare time, Dr. Dunnavant knits and grows flowers and vegetables in her back yard.
