Biography
Dr. Susan E. Shirel serves as the Director of Vocal Studies and Assistant Director for Academics at the Lipscomb University School of Music. In 25 years of teaching, she has worked with students of all ages, specializing in private voice, choral music education, and choral ensemble direction. As an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, she has held regional and state leadership positions, and her voice students have regularly been finalists at all levels of the NATS Student Auditions. When time allows, Dr. Shirel enjoys performing many styles, particularly classical and musical theatre repertoire. She holds a Doctor of Arts in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Ball State University, a Master of Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University, and a B.M.E. in Vocal and Instrumental Music Education from Harding University.
