Lipscomb infielder Tadd Brewer, selected in the 17th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, signed his contract in a ceremony in the Lipscomb Athletics Media Room. The Angels were represented by scout Jim “Bear” Bryant at the Monday afternoon signing session. Lipscomb Director of Athletics Dr. Steve Potts joined the Brewer family, Bison coaches Cliff Terracuso and Brian Ryman, and several fans at the ceremony.

Brewer, from Sturgis, Ky., played shortstop with the Bisons for the past two seasons, but is expected to work at second base for the Angels organization. He will play for the Orem Owlz, one of two Rookie League teams operated by the parent club. Orem is located near Salt Lake City.

The 2006 Ken Dugan Award winner for the Bisons, Brewer batted .266 with a team leading 218 at bats. He tied for the team lead in games played (54) and led the team in games started (53). He also led the team in doubles (14) and triples (four). He tied for the RBI lead (35) and posted a .921 fielding percentage.
