Eight students from the fashion merchandising program, in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences, were featured on Nashville’s Talk of the Town morning talk show on Sept. 26.

In a segment titled “Save or Splurge,” fashion merchandising professor Cindy Quinn appeared on the show to tell host Meryll Rose all about the latest fall fashion trends – lace, leather, fur and capes.

The students each modeled a “save” outfit from TJ Maxx or Target or a “splurge” outfit from Spruce or the Cotton Mill, both representing the same trend.

The students -- in the display and promotion class this fall -- also identified the hottest trends for this fall, picked out the clothes at the stores and brought their own student stylist to the appearance.

The TV appearance was an outgrowth of the “Look for Less” fashion show conducted by students and fashion program director Kathy Bates in the spring 2011. Held as part of Lipscomb’s spring Fashion Week, the show featured outfits from Dillard’s and look-a-like fashions purchased at local thrift stores.
