The Lipscomb University Bison Baseball team opened the 2006 season against the Purple Aces of the University of Evansville Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Dugan Field. In pregame festivities, members of the 1956 Bison Baseball team threw out the ceremonial first pitch to begin the game. First pitches were thrown by Charlie Caudill, Art “Tubby” Gardner, Hoyt Kirk, Tom McMahon, Ron Morrell, Herb Murphy and Carl Walker, who were celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1956 season.

The Bisons got more hits, but visiting Evansville had more home runs as Lipscomb opened the 2006 season with a 6-3 loss at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium.
