UPDATE: Power out on campus

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE • 10 A.M.

We are happy to report that power is back up.

We will resume the normal exam schedule at 11 a.m. today. That means if your exam is scheduled at 11 a.m., it will still be at that time with the rest of the day's schedule happening as scheduled.

Students who had an 8 a.m. exam will have it Wednesday at 5 p.m. For any student for which this creates a hardship, please check in with your 8 a.m. professor or the Registrar's Office.

Thank you once again for your patience and understanding as we have worked through this Nashville Electric Service issue resulting from last night's storm.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE • 8:45 A.M.

Based on NES evaluations, it is unlikely we will have power by 9 a.m.

8 a.m. exams will be rescheduled at a time still to be determined. We will notify you as soon as possible. You will receive our next update no later than 10 a.m. concerning the 11 a.m. exam time slot. We will also attempt to post them on the doors of Ezell and Swang.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is power in the nursing building, so those exams will begin at 9 a.m.

Please pass the word on. Wifi is down in many buildings. Messages will be posted on the website and social media as well.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE * 8:20 a.m.

NES is still working on our power problem and does not appear to have it resolved.

At this point, we are going to hold 8 a.m. exams to 9 a.m. This appears to be the least disruptive solution at this point. We will update this as NES advises us. Expect an update around 8:45 a.m.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE • 6:30 a.m.

About 1:30 a.m. this morning the stormy weather damaged a major Nashville Electric Service power line coming onto campus, leaving almost all buildings without power.

NES was not able to get to campus until a few minutes ago and is evaluating the situation. We believe the repair they need to make is a relatively quick one, and they hope to have power back on very quickly, if not by the time you receive this message.

Backup arrangements are already well underway for food service, so that should not be a problem although not all choices may be available initially.

At this point the exam schedule is unchanged. We will notify you as soon as we know any differently contingent on NES' work.

Offices will also be opened as scheduled. You might want to bring flashlight to campus just as a precaution if you work in an area without windows, but hopefully by the time you arrive on campus you won't need it!
