Coach Dilfer reveals new helmets, uniforms for football program
Player protection is the utmost importance to Lipscomb Academy head coach Trent Dilfer, former NFL quarterback and ESPN broadcaster. That’s why he and his wife, Cassandra, personally covered the costs of VICIS ZERO1 helmets for all Lipscomb Academy football players, a substantial investment for 68 athletes.
Today at the inaugural Mustang Summer Sizzle those helmets were revealed proudly to the Lipscomb community. The ZERO1 is the most technologically advanced helmet on the market, designed to reduce impact forces with a highly engineered structure that differs from traditional football helmets. The ZERO1 has a deformable outer shell and a RFLX layer designed to slow impact forces while enhancing player performance. The color of the helmets, matte purple, was created as a collaborative effort between VICIS and Coach Dilfer, is the only color of its kind within the VICIS collection and has been designated an exclusive color for Lipscomb Academy Mustangs only. Lipscomb Academy is the first high school in Tennessee to use VICIS ZERO1 helmets on every football player.
Additionally, the new Nike state-of-the-art uniforms were debuted on high school and middle school football players. These same uniforms are worn by top national collegiate football programs. Middle school jerseys are gray. For high school, home jerseys are black, and away jerseys are white.
The first home football game will be on Aug. 30, 2019, against Pope John Paul II High School.
